In honor of the 40th anniversary of the iconic 80s film "Footloose," actor Kevin Bacon is set to return to Payson High School in Utah, where the movie was originally shot. Students at the high school had initiated a viral campaign to bring Bacon back to the school for their prom, and their efforts proved successful as Bacon confirmed his attendance during a live broadcast on the "Today" show.

The students at Payson High School launched a grassroots #BaconToPayson social media campaign, meticulously reenacted scenes from the movie, and fervently urged Bacon to attend their prom, marking the final one to be held in the current building before it's relocated due to aging infrastructure. Bacon's visit is anticipated to be the culmination of "Footloose"-themed events and celebrations that have been taking place at the school to honor the film's milestone anniversary.

Upon his confirmation, Bacon expressed his admiration for the students' hard work and their dedication, emphasizing the positive impact that both the movie and the high school have had on his life.

Bacon's visit to Payson High is set to be in support of SixDegrees.org, a charity foundation that connects and empowers underserved communities
