One of the Pitt Panthers’ top class of 2025 targets plans on announcing his college plans soon.
Elijah Dotson — a four-star defensive back from Michigan — announced on Tuesday that he will make his much-anticipated college decision on Saturday, May 18.
Dotson attends Belleville High School in Detroit, Mich. and recently released a Top 8 of (in no order): Pitt, Tennessee, Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, Penn State and Michigan State.
Following this decision announcement, Dotson confirmed to Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will decide between one of those schools and Pitt is certainly in consideration.
“Pitt is one of those schools because of the consistency and the love they’ve shown,” Dotson said. “They were my first offer, so it will always be special to me.”

Dotson has made multiple visits to Pitt over the last calendar year, including the most recent one on March 22 for a spring practice.
The Pitt coaching staff, Archie Collins in particular, has put a lot of time and effort into recruiting this talented athlete, and his commitment would go a long way in securing the foundation of the class of 2025.
At this time, it appears that the biggest competition for Dotson will come from the two in-state schools, Michigan and Michigan State.
But Dotson has repped Pitt recently, wearing a pair of “Hail to Pitt” gloves at a showcase. It doesn’t mean that Dotson is going to commit to Pitt, but it does show that the Panthers are in strong consideration and have made a lasting impression upon the talented defensive back.
Dotson will end all of the speculation on May 18.

The Panthers currently hold three commitments in the class of 2025, three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio), and it’s not unlikely that a couple more soon join the class this spring.
