The PGA Tour has confirmed its second positive COVID-19 test since resuming its season amid the pandemic this month.
On Tuesday, the PGA announced that Cameron Champ withdrew from this weekend's Travelers Championship held at TPC River Highlands in Hartford, Conn., after he recorded a positive test.
PGA TOUR member Cameron Champ has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship after testing positive for COVID-19 during pre-tournament screening on Tuesday. Champ will have the PGA TOUR’s full support throughout his self-isolation period under CDC guidelines.
“I feel great physically and I was obviously surprised and disappointed to learn of the test result,” said Champ. “It’s important now to take the necessary steps and measures to protect others, including my loved ones.”
The PGA will release additional testing results on Wednesday.
Last Friday, Nick Watney withdrew from the RBC Heritage after he tested positive for COVID-19. Before that, the Tour boasted that 954 on-site tests returned negative results during the opening two tournaments of the resumed season.
Spectators won't attend the Travelers Championship due to the ongoing virus outbreak.
