Tiger Woods, Justin Timberlake opening massive new sports bar in New York

The involvement of both men was detailed by Golf.com, which toured the new digs on Monday:

T-Squared, formerly an Emigrant Savings Bank branch, is prime Midtown, but a tourist trap it is not. The space is befitting both Woods and Timberlake’s investment in the sport, which has expanded tremendously in recent years. Timberlake, a golf nut, worked closely with his strategic partners at 8AM Golf (also the holding company behind GOLF.com) to conceptualize and execute the vision behind T-Squared. The new space joins 3’s Golf as one of JT’s recent investments into the exploding golf entertainment space. Woods, meanwhile, leaned on his partners with the hospitality management company the Nexus Club to help modernize the space, which features an open concept, 24-foot ceilings and four separate dining areas. 

A short distance from the famed Grand Central Terminal, the bar's location suggests that while it hopes to attract local residents and tourists who may want a break from the chaos that is Times Square, it also wants plenty of business from those who commute to the city from Long Island, Westchester County and Connecticut. 

Plenty of well-heeled people who travel to the city during the week hit the links on the weekends closer to home. The city itself has multiple public golf courses, although one of them was just sold to Bally's Corporation, which promised a high-profile name change. However, the better-known links in the region are in the suburbs, including Bethpage Black Course in Long Island, which has hosted several majors and will have the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Sports bars are a dime a dozen in nearly every American city, and NYC is no exception. However, the city's sports passions may be the most diverse anywhere in the world thanks to having teams from every sports league and organization of renown. 

As the 2023 version of the Ryder Cup starts in less than two weeks, on top of football season now being underway, T-Squared has quite the showcase to launch itself to the wider public.
