Adolis Garcia Gets Up Off The Mat, Walks It Off For Texas Rangers
USA TODAY Sports

ARLINGTON, Texas – In his first four at-bats Sunday, Adolis Garcia struck out swinging.

In the ninth inning Sunday, he sent a 2-2 pitch 430 feet into the left-field stands for a game-winning home run as the Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins 6-5 at Globe Life Field.

The Rangers (76-60) fourth walk-off win and first since July 17, snapped a six-game losing streak at home.

It's Garcia's career-high 34th homer this season, the most by a Rangers batter since Joey Gallo his 40 in 2018. The homer is his team-best 100th RBI. He's the first Rangers player with consecutive 100-RBI seasons since Adrián Beltré in 2012.

"The way things have been going, we needed that," said starting pitcher Jon Gray, who allowed three runs in five innings.

Mitch Garver's three-run homer in the first gave Texas a quick lead, but Royce Lewis tied in the fifth with a three-run homer of his own.

In the sixth, Garcia was at the plate with the bases loaded when Marcus Semien scored on a wild pitch behind Garcia's back to give Texas a 4-3 lead.

The Twins (71-66) tied it with a run in the top of the seventh, before Garver's second homer in the bottom of the inning again gave the Rangers a one-run lead. Lewis' RBI double in the eighth, however, tied it up again at 5-5 to set up Garcia's heroics.
