Arizona Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte Continues to Shine Despite Game 4 Loss
USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks made a valiant comeback effort on Tuesday night before ultimately losing 11-7 to the Texas Rangers in Game 4 of the World Series.

The D'Backs now trail the best-of-seven affair 3-1 and are one loss away from elimination.

Though Arizona lost, second baseman Ketel Marte continues to do his part. He went 2-for-5 with a double, his seventh of the postseason.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Ketel Marte has reached base safely in all 20 playoff games he’s played

that’s the 3rd-longest on-base streak to start a postseason career, behind only:

1966-71 Boog Powell: 25

2015-17 Daniel Murphy: 21

Marte is hitting .338 this postseason and is a lifetime .352 playoff hitter. He also made the playoffs with the D'Backs in 2017.

The 30-year-old had another very productive season in Arizona, hitting .276 with 25 homers and 82 RBI. He stole eight bases and posted an .844 OPS.

Marte has spent part of nine seasons in the big leagues with the Mariners and Diamondbacks. Acquired from Seattle before the 2017 season, he's a lifetime .279 hitter with 107 home runs. He made the All-Star Game in 2019.

If the Diamondbacks are going to stave off elimination, Marte will have to dig deep and be a big part of it.

Game 5 of the World Series is Wednesday night at 8:03 p.m. ET. Nathan Eovaldi gets the ball for Texas while Zac Gallen gets the ball for Arizona. This is a rematch of what we saw in Game 1, which Texas won in extra innings.
