ASU Coaches React to the Resignation of AD Ray Anderson

The Head Baseball Manager, Willie Bloomquist, also had a press conference today after Dillinham’s. His was to promote a Make-A-Wish kid, who signed his letter of intent to play at ASU, but he answered questions on Anderson’s departure.

“I am obviously very grateful for Ray, and he gave me the opportunity to come back to this place, which I love.” Bloomquist said, “I see a side of Ray that you guys don’t get to see every day. That is the fact that Ray’s a good man. He has treated me absolutely outstandingly since day 1. You never like seeing a guy get fired just because the man is a human being and he’s a good human. So, for that, it’s always sad and disappointing when that happens. On the same token, we’ve been taught to think onward and upward. Onward to the next thing, and that’s the business. Ray is an outstanding individual.”

The Coaches got asked about the NIL change that goes along with a big move. Many people are already pledging donations to the school after the move.

“I think anytime there is change, somethings fall through, and more people get back involved.” Dillingham said, “I think anytime there is change, it rattles enough cages to get maybe some people involved and understand there is a direction we are heading. I think the last ten months, we’ve been headed in the right direction. It started with Ray bringing me on here, and hopefully, that’s going to extend to his predecessor. And NIL, we’ve got about a month, but we got to step it up, and we got to get rolling at a rapid rate.”

“I hope so.” Bloomquist said, “We are in a landscape that is evolving and changing every day. I think Kenny (Dillingham) did an outstanding job when he got hired trying to Activate The Valley. We need it, man, we do. If we are going to be successful in today’s landscape of college sports, we are going to need help. That’s every sport. We are going to need help. That’s just the honest truth. We are going to start falling further behind if we don’t get help from people.”

This move will cause a huge stir in the ASU world. We will see if that is a good thing. It all starts with who Ray Anderson’s replacement is.
