Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals is Now in the Same Class as Willie Mays After Consecutive Huge Nights

Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. had a historic, walk-off grand slam on Friday night against the Minnesota Twins and he continued his torture of Minnesota on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI.

The Royals won the game 10-7 and Witt Jr. put himself in a rare class in baseball history.

Since RBI became an official stat in 1920, only one other MLB player has put up all of those numbers over a 2-game span: Willie Mays (May 12-13, 1958).

Sure, it's random baseball history, but any time that you are put alongside Willie Mays? It's noteworthy.

Witt Jr. has been a bright spot for the dreadful Royals this season. The team is 31-75 but he has blossomed into one of the best young players in all of baseball. Hyped as one of the best prospects before the 2022 season, he's delivered this year, hitting .263 with 18 homers and 60 RBI. He's also stolen 29 bases and appears on track to have a better year than a season ago, when he hit 20 homers, drove in 80 and stole 30 bases.

The Royals are 1.0 game ahead of the Oakland Athletics for the worst record in baseball and will take on the Twins again on Sunday.

First pitch from Kansas City is set for 2:10 p.m. ET.
