Both teams gear up for bullpen-centric Game 4 of the World Series

World Series Game 4 starters have been announced, with both teams placing emphasis on their bullpens before returning to their aces in Game 5.

The Rangers will kick off the night with Jon Gray, a familiar face who once faced the Diamondbacks multiple times in the postseason.

Back in 2017, Gray started for the Rockies during the Wild Card round.

During this start, the D-backs jumped all over Gray as he allowed four earned runs on seven hits through just 1.1 innings.

But, this postseason, things have been a bit different for the 31-year-old.

In Game 1 of the World Series, Jon Gray struck out four Diamondbacks batters in 1.2 innings.

Despite starting 29 games during the regular season, the Rangers have mainly utilized him as a bullpen asset in October.

On the Diamondbacks’ side, they will also place a focus on their bullpen, but the specifics remain undisclosed.

The last time they had a bullpen game was in Game 4 of the NLCS, featuring Joe Mantiply, who started and was promptly pulled after one shutout inning.

Arizona used 8 different pitchers in this game.
