Brewers to offer sensory bags to guests with special needs

KultureCity is a nonprofit organization. They have provided inclusive spaces and sensory-friendly accommodations at more than 900 venues nationwide. Their goal is to create spaces for guests with autism and other sensory processing disorders. The Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation believes as many as one in every 20 people live with a sensory processing condition. These conditions can affect the way a person responds to aspects of their environment. This includes, but isn’t limited to noise, light, and touch. Fans can be exposed to flashing lights and loud noises with little warning. This initiative allows fans to have a space to collect themselves after sensory overload.

KultureCity executive director Uma Srivastava said “we’re honored to partner with the Brewers to provide a truly inclusive experience for all fans and guests.” 

Due to the organization now being present in Wisconsin sports, other teams could begin to make similar partnerships. The Bucks, Packers, and Badgers all could join the movement this season.

This move is one step close to making Brewers games more inclusive to all fans and their families. Currently, American Family Field is widely recognized around baseball as one of the most family-friendly ballparks. The Brewers went the extra mile for their fans once again with this initiative.

The sensory bags will include various tools and items to support fans. For example, noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads are all inside these Brewers sensory bags. These bags will be available to any guest who needs one at the Brewers Guest Relations. These kiosks are located near Section 116, Section 221, and Section 419. In addition, a quiet area will also be available for guests who need to take a break away from the crowds.

The Brewers have shown why they are one of the most welcoming organizations in professional sports. No matter the background, age, or abilities of Brewers fans, all are welcome at American Family Field. Going forward, the Brewers want you to bring all of your loved ones to the ballpark.
