Chaim Bloom Tips Hand At Red Sox Approach For Trade Deadline
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

With the Aug. 1 trade deadline rapidly approaching, the Boston Red Sox and chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom have a lot of decisions to make.

The Red Sox are 8-1 in their last nine games and are just two games out of the final postseason spot in the American League.

They have scored the sixth-most runs in baseball this year and have the fourth-most hits as well. However, they have the third-highest batting average against of any American League pitching staff.

A rollercoaster season has left the front office in a very tricky spot just a little over two weeks away from the deadline.

Bloom expressed some thoughts on the team's approach with MassLive's Chris Cotillo.

“How we do in these weeks leading up to the deadline could really move the needle one way or the other," said Bloom. "That’s just a fact."

"We feel like we’re making a lot of progress and we just want to keep layering on more and more positive things toward that ultimate goal of a championship club.”

Now, by layering on more and more positive things does Bloom mean more and more players could be coming to Boston at the deadline? Who knows.

Bloom has always had a way of organizing his words that leaves us in a guessing game position. But these answers are still promising for the group of Sox fans that very much want to see additions to this roster over subtractions.

There has been some debate among Sox supporters that these next few weeks won't massively change what Bloom ultimately already expects to do at the deadline. These quotes put those thoughts to rest.

You always want the front office to factor in everything they possibly can when making such important decisions. Choices that will impact the present and future of your club.

If the Red Sox continue this hot streak it's good to know that, from the sound of it, the Red Sox will be buyers at the deadline.
