D-backs Trade Dominic Fletcher for White Sox Prospect Cristian Mena

On February 3rd, the Arizona Diamondbacks made another offseason splash by trading outfielder Dominic Fletcher to the Chicago White Sox.

In return, the D-backs acquired right-handed pitcher Cristian Mena, ranked as the White Sox’s #10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Although Mena lacks major league experience, he started 27 games in the minors last season. In 2023, across Double-A and Triple-A, Mena posted a 4.85 ERA and struck out 156 batters in 133.2 innings.

Meanwhile, Dominic Fletcher, a former 2nd-round pick by the Diamondbacks, made his major league debut last year. During one memorable three-game stretch in May, Fletcher went 8-12 at the plate and drove in an impressive 11 runs.

Fletcher concluded his rookie season with a .301 batting average through 102 plate appearances.

However, given the Diamondbacks’ outfield depth with Corbin Carroll, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Alek Thomas, along with Joc Pederson as an available option, it was unlikely that Fletcher would see much playing time.

Stay tuned for further updates.
