Zac Gallen fires back at Dodgers over Chase Field comments

The Arizona Diamondbacks are taking a few well-deserved victory laps after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.

Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen was among those sending a blunt response to the Dodgers after Wednesday’s Game 3 win, taking particular issues with some comments made by former Diamondback and current Dodger David Peralta in a recent Los Angeles Times article. Peralta was quoted as saying playing at Chase Field was “going to feel like we’re going to play at home,” alluding to strong support for the Dodgers at these away games in the past.

Gallen seemed to directly respond to that comment after Wednesday’s game.

“This one tastes a little sweeter, especially (because) I heard some comments that this was going to be a home game for them. That’s our pool,” Gallen said, via Kevin Zimmerman of Arizona Sports.

The Chase Field pool has been a sore spot for the Diamondbacks since the Dodgers used it to celebrate their 2013 NL West title when they clinched at Arizona. The organization has even taken steps to ensure that it couldn’t happen again, though the Diamondbacks players obviously made use of it after advancing.

Despite being major underdogs, the Diamondbacks swept the Dodgers and are making the most of it. Considering how some of those comments bordered on arrogance, they certainly have the right.
