Dodgers Bring Back Top Reliever From 2023 Season: Report

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a pair of moves on Monday regarding their bullpen.

First, the Dodgers traded left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson to the New York Yankees. Shortly after, we learned the Dodgers had reached a two-year deal with free-agent reliever Ryan Brasier.

The return of Brasier to Los Angeles was reportedly in the works for a while, and it finally came to fruition on Monday.

Braiser signed a two-year deal, $9 million contract, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal went on to say that the deal could reach $13 million with certain incentives.

The Boston Red Sox released Brasier in late May 2023 after a dreadful start, but he was later picked up by the Dodgers, where he thrived. As a member of the Boys in Blue, Brasier recorded a 0.70 ERA in 39 appearances.

He also struck out 38 batters, allowed a .140 batting average again and had a 0.72 WHIP in 38.2 innings pitched. It was night and day from his time in Boston compared to Los Angeles.

The Dodgers will need to clear a 40-man roster spot for Brasier. Since they're able to put players on the 60-day injured list on Feb. 8, they may elect to wait a few days before making this move official.
