Dodgers' Max Muncy Lost 10 Pounds Fighting Virus
USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Dodgers star slugger Max Muncy  traveled with the team for their two-game mini-series to open the season against their division rivals, the San Diego Padres, in Korea.

Muncy didn't play in the last few Cactus League games due to a virus he's been battling. How bad was the virus, you may ask? Muncy told AM 570's David Vassegh that he lost 10 pounds while battling the virus.

The 33-year-old clearly went through the ringer with this sickness, but seems like he's trending in the right direction to be ready for the start of the regular season.

He has less than a week to regain his strength before Opening Day on March 20, when the real games begin. He should be a lock for third base and provide elite pop to the lineup.

Prior to his illness, Muncy was dominating in the Cactus League. The two-time All-Star slashed .357/.545/.786 with two home runs, four RBIs and a 1.331 OPS in 14 at-bats.

Hopefully the virus didn't sap him of too much of his power. He'll hit somewhere in the middle of the order behind the fearsome Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman in the Dodgers' lineup this year.
