Former Dodgers Reliever Joins Chicago White Sox on MiLB Deal

Knebel did not pitch in 2023 after suffering a capsule tear in his shoulder with the Philadelphia Phillies late in 2022.

The reliever has dealt with multiple injuries over the past few seasons including Tommy John surgery that wiped out his 2019 season with Milwaukee and a lat strain that sent him to the 60-day IL and kept him to just 25.2 innings with the Dodgers in 2021.

He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers at No. 39 overall in 2013 and made his debut with the Tigers on May 24, 2014. 

In 2017, Knebel was named an All-Star with the Brewers as a closer. He had a career-high 45 saves and a career-best ERA of 1.78.  His 76 innings that season are the most he has ever thrown and the closest he's come to that since was 55.1 in 2018.

Through parts of eight seasons, Knebel is 13-16 with a 3.26 ERA. He has appeared in 312 games and 306.2 innings with 407 strikeouts and 143 walks.
