Gleyber Torres drives in three to lead Yankees to 10th straight win

The New York Yankees won a 10th consecutive game Monday when second baseman Gleyber Torres led the team to a 3-2 win against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Torres, 25, gave the Yankees an early 2-0 lead when he hit his third home run of the season over the fence in right field.

Toronto tied up the game with two runs of their own in the fourth inning, but Torres drove in Tim Locastro with an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning to give the lead back to New York.

Torres earned back-to-back All-Star nods in his first two MLB seasons, but struggled in the last two years. In 2021, Torres batted .259 and hit nine home runs, a dramatic drop-off from his home run total of 38 from the 2019 season. After Monday, Torres now has nine RBIs in his last six games after recording only three in his first 15 games of the season.

The Yankees improved to 17-6 with the win, the best record in MLB, and have a 2.5 game lead over the 15-9 Blue Jays in the AL East.
