Guardians Front Office Doubles Down On Commitment To Jose Ramirez

There aren't many players in the game of baseball like Jose Ramirez both on the field and off it. Luckily, the Cleveland Guardians have him on their roster and they have no intention of moving on from him anytime soon.

General Manager Mike Chernoff was asked by MLB Network's Jon Morosi whether their organization would consider moving Ramirez at some point in the near future.

"Jose is the guy that we're building around, said Chernoff. "He is - he means so much to our franchise, just in terms of what he is in the clubhouse, the way he goes about his business on and off the field. He has really built up a huge impact in our community. So, I expect Jose to be a lifetime Cleveland Guardian and I would leave it at that. He is the guy we want to build around."

It's kind of a peculiar question to ask for a couple of reasons.

First, both Ramirez and the Guardians have been very public about their commitment to one another in the past, and nothing appears to have changed that mutual feeling. Second, J-Ram reportedly has a full no-trade clause with Cleveland so it's really not up to the front office whether or not he goes.

Ramirez is adamant about doing four things over his MLB career: retire in Cleveland, have his jersey retired by the organization, be inducted into the Nationa Baseball Hall of Fame, and win a world series with the Guardians.

That doesn't sound like a player who is itching to get ahead of town anytime soon.
