Here's When Red Sox's Key Bullpen Piece Is Eligible To Return From Injury

In what seems like an anomaly, Boston Red Sox fans have a positive update for the club's pitching staff. 

It was reported Tuesday that John Schreiber threw a bullpen, meaning he could be back on the mound in due time. 

Schrieber was removed from a game against the Seattle Mariners back in May with a right-lat strain. 

The earliest the right-hander is able to return from the 60-day injured list is July 16. As of now, no exact date for his return has been announced by the Red Sox but it seems plausible he'd be ready by that date. 

Schreiber proved to be a very valuable piece to a currently diminished Red Sox pitching staff by posting a 2.12 ERA, 21-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio, .233 batting average against, and a 1.29 WHIP in 17 innings pitched across 18 games in the 2023 season.  

Since Schreiber's last appearance on May 16, the Red Sox have a combined 3.58 ERA in the 36 games that he has missed, and have a record of 17-19. Schreiber might not be the catalyst that turns the season around, but he is without a doubt a critical piece and necessary for a wild-card push.
