Jonathan Lucroy granted release by White Sox, looking for major-league deal
The Chicago White Sox have released veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who didn't make the team's major-league roster this spring, according to FanSided's Robert Murray.
Sources: Jonathan Lucroy has been released by the Chicago White Sox. He hit .333/.478/.389 this spring and with no shortage of teams needing a catcher, should land with another team soon.

Lucroy reportedly asked for his release after being informed that he would not crack the Opening Day roster. Keeping Lucroy would've required opening another 40-man roster spot, which the team already needs to do for Andrew Vaughn and potentially Jake Lamb.
According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, Lucroy is looking for a major-league deal and has a "good chance to find one."

The 34-year-old has had a solid spring training with the White Sox, slashing .333/.478/.389 in 14 games.
It's unclear which teams might be interested in signing the veteran and former All-Star.
Chicago is expected to deploy Yasmani Grandal as its starting catcher, with Zack Collins the No. 2 guy.
