Kris Bryant, wife make cookies for stadium workers in return to Wrigley Field

Kris Bryant will never forget where his Major League Baseball career began and all the people that played a role in his rise to stardom.

In his return to Wrigley Field on Friday, the former Chicago Cubs outfielder and his wife Jessica made cookies for stadium staff before he returned to the field as a member of the opposing San Francisco Giants.

"It's easy to thank your hitting coach or your teammates or the people writing out your checks, but the people behind the scenes here really make this place go," Bryant said, according to Kerry Crowley of KNBR. "They've been through a lot here."

Bryant received a standing ovation and tribute video in his return to Wrigley Field. Before Friday's game, he told reporters he was looking forward to returning to Chicago to get the closure he didn't receive after being traded.

The Cubs selected Bryant second overall in the 2013 MLB Draft. He was named National League Rookie of the Year in 2015 and helped the Cubs end their 108-year World Series drought in 2016.

The 29-year-old was with the Cubs for six and a half seasons before being traded to the Giants ahead of the 2021 deadline. He is hitting .258/.326/.475 with six home runs and 14 RBI in 32 games since joining San Francisco.
