Mariners Post A Heartfelt Message About Scott Servais
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Manager of the Year was decided last night in both the American League and National League.

Cleveland Guardians manager Terry Francona earned Manager of the Year honors in the AL, while New York Mets manager Buck Showalter earned it in the NL.

Francona beat out both Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais and Baltimore Orioles skipper Brandon Hyde to win his third Manager of the Year award after taking the Guardians to the postseason for the fifth time in the last seven years.

On Twitter, the Mariners paid tribute to Servais, posting a collage of photos with a caption that read, “Manager of the Year in our book.”

Mariners Praise Servais

Servais was certainly deserving of the award.

He has led the Mariners to back-to-back 90-win seasons, and even led them to the postseason this year, as they secured the second American League Wild Card spot, which ended their playoff drought which dated all the way back to 2001.

The Mariners swept the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Wild Card series, rallying from a large deficit to win Game 2 and eliminate the Jays.

Seattle’s magical run ended after they were swept by the eventual World Series champion Houston Astros, but Servais helped ignite some hope for the future in Seattle.

There had not been a postseason game played in Seattle since Game 2 of the 2001 ALCS.

Servais helped make that happen for the young upstart Mariners.

Great performances by Rookie of the Year Julio Rodriguez and other young studs also made 2022 an exciting season in Seattle.
