Milwaukee Brewers' Mega Prospect Set to Make History After Making Opening Day Roster

Milwaukee Brewers' mega prospect Jackson Chourio has made the Brewers Opening Day roster, per reports.

This stands in contrast to a report on Monday that said he was just "in the mix." When he takes the field nine days from now for the opener, Chourio will also be part of some very unique team history.

Per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal-Constitution:

Chourio will be the youngest Milwaukee Brewers player since Robin Yount to make his MLB debut on opening day. The 20-year-old outfielder and second-ranked prospect in all of baseball will make the Brewers opening day roster, sources told the Journal Sentinel.

If Chourio starts in center field on March 28 against the New York Mets at Citi Field, he will be the third-youngest player to start at the position on opening day since 1900.

Chourio enters the season as the No. 2 prospect in all of baseball, behind only Jackson Holliday of the Baltimore Orioles. He inked an eight-year contract extension in the offseason, so there was no financial motivation for the Brewers to hold him back, it was really just a case of if he was ready.

The Brewers are in a period of transition after losing pitchers Corbin Burnes, Adrian Houser and Eric Lauer this offseason to new teams, and losing Brandon Woodruff and Devin Williams to long-term injuries, so watching Chourio develop will be one of the biggest stories for the organization.

Milwaukee won the National League Central a season ago.
