The Boston Red Sox reportedly made a depth move Thursday afternoon.

Boston reportedly agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers that will bring reliever Tayler Scott to the club in exchange for cash considerations, according to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo.

"Red Sox make a trade, acquiring righty Tayler Scott from the Dodgers for cash," Cotillo said. "Tayler Scott goes to the 40-man roster and John Schreiber goes to the 60-day IL to make room."

Scott is a three-year big league veteran who has bounced around the majors and minor leagues since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs. The right-handed reliever began his professional career with the rookie-level AZL Cubs in 2011 and since then has been a journeyman. Scott has spent time with the Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Dodgers, and now the Red Sox organization.

The 31-year-old made his big league debut as a member of the Seattle Mariners in 2019 and also saw time with the Baltimore Orioles the very same season. After a few years in the minor leagues, Scott returned to the big leagues with the Padres in 2022 and then the Dodgers this season. In his big league career, Scott has compiled a 10.75 ERA across 27 appearances.

Boston's bullpen depth has been tested early this season with a plethora of injuries so a move to add even more depth makes sense. Scott likely will spend most of his time with the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, but if he can impress, maybe could make his way back to the big leagues. Scott has impressed with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers this season pitching to a 1.37 ERA in 19 appearances.

Hopefully, Scott can help the Red Sox in some capacity this season as he looks to make it back to the big leagues once again.
