Ron Washington Reveals How Jo Adell Will Factor Into Angels’ Lineup
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels are still working through what their lineup will look like in 2024. One of the key question marks in this lineup is how Jo Adell will be placed and if he will be a part of the everyday lineup.

When Angels manager Ron Washington laid out the current thought for the Angels lineup a week ago, Adell was listed alongside addition Aaron Hicks in the No. 8 spot.

Then, Halos Today's Noah Camras asked Washington for clarification on Adell's potential role. Here's what he had to say:

“When you get Taylor Ward, you got Mike Trout, you got Adell, you got Moniak, you got Hicks, I mean, that’s a lot right there that has done it. And I hope Adell finds who he is and makes it hard on us to do what we have to do. But I’m gonna envision myself making sure I don’t get nobody stale.”

Adell has struggled to make a name for himself at the MLB level. The former top prospect hit just .207 in 17 games for the Angels last year with three home runs and six runs batted in. An oblique injury ended his season early after he started showing some positive signs.

Adell is looking to turn things around in 2024 by going back to the basics, and he's off to a strong start in Cactus League play.

In six at-bats, Adell has two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base.

A continued good showing throughout the Cactus League will be important for Adell's odds at solidifying a long-term spot in the lineup.
