Rookie Zach Neto Feels He's Getting Closer to Figuring Things Out at the Plate
USA TODAY Sports

While it has been a tough year for the Los Angeles Angels, they also have seen some good seasons from some of the young guys on the roster. One of which has been rookie shortstop Zach Neto, who has taken a big jump this year, and made his case for the future shortstop of this team.

He has battled injuries this season, but when he has been on the field, he has been great for the Halos. However, since returning from his latest injury, Neto has seen a bit of a down stretch.

But after a few good games over the last few days, Neto may be getting on track to shake the rust off.

“I’m starting to click a little bit,” Neto said. “Starting to see it little better than when I got called back up and. Just trying to try to keep having positive at-bats Just trying to do anything I can to move guys over or bring them in.”

Per The OC Register

It sometimes can take a little to get back into a groove after missing some time with injury. Neto is still learning at the major league level, but it’s a good sign that he is getting back on track.

For the season, the rookie is hitting .224 with nine home runs and 34 runs batted in. The numbers don’t jump off the page for Neto, but his impact has been massive to this club.

Neto is the likely shortstop of the future for the Angels, so any extra time that he gets in the major leagues right now is crucial for his overall development. He has been limited to just 80 games this season, so anything he can take into the offseason will be huge.

It wasn’t the season that anyone was hoping for in the Halos organization, but Neto has been a solid surprise.

He can help lead them into the next era of Angels baseball, and hopefully continue to build on an impressive rookie season.
