USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Rays enter play on Thursday at 93-60 and in second place in the American League East.

As they try to track down the Baltimore Orioles in the division (2.5 games back), they got a mixed bag of injury updates regarding Jason Adam and Luke Raley.

With regards to Adam, he's been activated from the injured list, where he had been with an oblique issue.

Per Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports:

The Rays have reinstated RHP Jason Adam from the 15-Day IL and optioned LHP Jalen Beeks to Triple-A.

Adam is a key part of the Rays bullpen, going 4-2 this year with a 2.67 ERA. He's struck out 69 batters in 54.0 innings. He has 12 saves and 11 holds this year.

He's in his sixth professional season with the Royals, Blue Jays, Cubs and Rays.

The news is different however on utility player and slugger Luke Raley, who will miss at least a few days.

Per Whitaker:

Kevin Cash said Luke Raley will be missing some time. No word yet on how much, but he’s very sore today. Neck banged up.

The 29-year-old Ohio native is hitting .249 this year with 19 homers and 49 RBI. He's posted an .823 OPS while also adding 14 stolen bases.

The Rays will take on the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Griffin Canning (LAA) gets the ball for the Angels while Zach Eflin pitches for Tampa.

Canning is 7-7 with a 4.42 ERA while Eflin is 15-8 with a 3.44.
