Three Former Pittsburgh Pirates Players Get Added to Team's Television Coverage in 2024
USA TODAY Sports

Former Pittsburgh Pirates players Jordy Mercer, Alex Presley and Steven Brault will join the team's television coverage on SportsNet Pittsburgh for the 2024 season.

The report came from TribLive:

Rob King returns as the studio host, with former Pirates players Steven Brault, Jordy Mercer and Alex Presley joining Michael McKenry, Capps, Walker and Young as studio analysts for pre- and postgame shows. Dan Potash and Hailey Hunter also will host and serve as sideline reporters during the season.

With that many analysts in the fold, clearly the new trio won't be working a full 162-game schedule, but it's always fun for fans to see former players even on a limited basis.

Brault is now 31-years-old and spent seven years in the big leagues with the Pirates and Chicago Cubs. He was with the Pirates for six years and Chicago for his last one. He was 12-18 lifetime, serving as both a starter and a reliever during his tenure. He pitched to a 4.73 ERA and made a career-high 19 starts in 2019.

As for Mercer, he had a 10-year career with the Pirates, Tigers, Yankees and Nationals. He spent seven years with Pittsburgh, serving as a big piece of their roster for six of those. He played in more than 100 games in six of those seven seasons and hit .285 back in 2013.

Finally, Presley had an eight-year career with the Pirates, Tigers, Astros, Twins and Brewers. He was most prominent with Pittsburgh, spending four years there. He hit 10 homers back in 2012.
