Torey Lovullo is keeping the receipts of all who doubted the Diamondbacks

Whether you’re an ardent fan or a fervent critic, it’s impossible to overlook the far-reaching impact that Deion Sanders has had on the sports world. From college football to postseason baseball, his “prime mentality” of keeping receipts has ignited a blaze.

After the Diamondbacks, who won just 84 games during the regular season, advanced to the NLCS for the first time since 2007, manager Torey Lovullo claimed he is tearing a page out of Coach Primes’ playbook.

Per Bob Nightengale at USA Today, Lovullo remarked, ‘We’re keeping receipts. We got a long list of receipts right now.’

At the beginning of the season, the Diamondbacks were given a mere 9% chance to make the playoffs; now, they are just one of four teams alive.

Even after clinching their playoff spot, the majority underestimated just how deep the D-backs would go in the postseason.

In the Wild Card round, 24 out of 27 MLB experts at ESPN predicted the Brewers would advance. Yet, the Diamondbacks swiftly dealt with business, securing a two-game sweep.

Of course, the story repeated itself in the NLDS as Arizona entered as massive underdogs against the 100-win Dodgers.

They still went on to complete a three-game sweep, and, as crazy as it may sound, they did not trail for a single inning.

The question now lingers: Can the Diamondbacks sustain this underdog story as they journey to Philadelphia to begin a best-of-7 series against the Phillies on Monday?

For Torey Lovullo, his ballclub is still in the beginning stages of their run, and the more doubts people harbor, the closer the D-backs inch toward their second World Series championship in franchise history.
