Toronto Blue Jays Spring Breakout Recap

The Toronto Blue Jays top prospects took on the New York Yankees top prospects. Neither of the two Blue Jays prospects in ITD’s Top 100 appeared in this game. The top prospect was Arjun Nimmala who is the third prospect in their system ranked by ITD. 

The Game

Adam Macko got the start for the Blue Jays prospects, he only last 0.2 innings giving up two runs on three hits; he walked one and struck out one. He gave up a two run home run to Spencer Jones which gave the Yankees an early 2-0 lead. He left with runners on first and second and CJ Van Eyk came in and got out of the jam in three pitchers. Van Eyk pitched the second as well giving up two runs on two hits, the two runs came off a home run by T.J Rumfield; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out two.

Landen Maroudis had the third inning and he only went 0.1 innings giving up four runs on four hits; he walked one and didn’t record a strikeout. Connor Cooke finished the inning going 0.2, he didn’t give up a run on one hit; he didn’t walk anyone or give up a hit. Kendry Rojas had the fourth and he only gave up a hit, he didn’t give up a walk or strike anyone out. Fernando Perez had the fifth and he gave up a run on one hit; he didn’t walk anyone or strike anyone out, the run came on a second home by Spencer Jones this one was a solo shot. Brandon Barriera had the sixth and didn’t give up a hit or a run; he walked two and struck out one. 

The lone Blue Jays run came in the Top of the Seventh starting with a walk, then two batters later a fielder choice then Tucker Toman drove in a run on a single to make it 9-1 to the Yankees and that would be the final.

Toman had the lone RBI for the Blue Jays in their loss to the Yankees

Edward Duran 

Duran scored the lone run for the Blue Jays after drawing a walk in his lone plate appearance 

Brandon Barreira

Barreira did a good job in his lone inning not allowing a hit and he walked two and struck out one.
