Twins OF Max Kepler goes to injured list with adductor strain

The Minnesota Twins announced on Friday that outfielder Max Kepler is heading to the 10-day injured list retroactive to Thursday due to a left adductor strain.

Outfielder Brent Rooker was selected from the team's alternate training site in a corresponding move.

It's the first time Kepler, 27, has ever been placed on the IL since he made his big-league debut in 2015.

Kepler played for the Twins against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday but was removed after the second inning with what the Associated Press (h/t ESPN) first described as tightness in his groin.

Across 35 games this summer, Kepler is hitting .220 with seven home runs, 18 RBI, five doubles and a .753 OPS.

Minnesota also added catcher Willians Astudillo to the roster for Friday's doubleheader versus the Detroit Tigers.
