Veteran Slugger Drawing Interest From Three of His Former Teams
USA TODAY Sports

Veteran slugger Carlos Santana is reportedly drawing interest from three of his former teams on the free agent market.

Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post:

The Brewers, Pirates and Mariners — three of Carlos Santana’s former teams in the last couple years — are showing interest in Santana.

Santana joined Seattle midway through the 2022 season and helped them get to the playoffs, then started the 2023 year with Pittsburgh before getting traded to Milwaukee. He helped the Brewers get to the playoffs as well. He's known as a good clubhouse presence in addition to still being a good source of power for a lineup.

Soon to be 38-years-old, Santana is likely looking at a one-year deal wherever he ends up. He hit .240 a season ago with 23 home runs across his two stops.

Lifetime, Santana is a .242 hitter with 301 homers across 14 years with the Indians, Phillies, Royals, Mariners, Pirates and Brewers.

He spent 10 years in Cleveland, helping them get to the World Series in the 2016 season. He was also an All-Star in the 2019 season, and he won a Silver Slugger that same year.

If he were to sign in Seattle, he'd immediately slot into the middle of the order and help replace the production from Eugenio Suarez and Teoscar Hernandez, who have left this offseason.

In Milwaukee, he'd help provide leadership to a young team that includes Sal Frelick and uber-prospect Jackson Chourio.

In Pittsburgh, he'd do the same thing, while also helping the Pirates get back into contention. The moves they have made this offseason signal they are coming out of their rebuild.
