Cubs OF Nelson Velazquez hit his first career grand slam in Tuesday's 14-9 win over the Mariners. Tuesday was Velazquez's first start of the 2023 season at the MLB level.

The Chicago Cubs trailed in Tuesday's game 7-0 at one point, and managed to narrow the deficit to 7-4. With the bases loaded, outfielder Nelson Velazquez had his hero moment as he launched a ball into orbit, resulting in his first MLB grand slam. The home run gave the Cubs an 8-7 lead at the time.

The Velazquez blast sent the entire stadium into a frenzy. In fact, the crowd came to life after his ball landed in the left field bleachers.

The grand slam was the turning point of the game, as the Cubs downed the Mariners 14-9. The win secured a series victory for the Cubs with a chance to sweep the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon.
