Watch: Top prospect Druw Jones draws comparison to dad for amazing catch in pro debut

Druw Jones, the son of former Gold Glove-winning centerfielder Andruw Jones, is going to spend his entire career drawing comparisons to his dad. And it did not take long after the Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect made an incredible, eye-popping catch in his pro debut for Single-A Vasalia.

Have a look at not only the catch but how similar it is to one his dad made for the Atlanta Braves during his own playing days.

Andruw spent 17 years patrolling center field for the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox and is regarded as one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball history, winning 10 consecutive Gold Gloves for the Braves between 1998 and 2007.

His son, Druw, was the No. 2 overall pick by the Diamondbacks in 2022 and is already considered one of the top prospects in all of baseball. He was always expected to provide value with his glove in centerfield, and while it might be difficult to follow in the footsteps of your famous dad he is certainly off to a great start.

If nothing else, he just raised expectations even more.

The Diamondbacks have one of the best collections of young talent in the league, and Jones will soon be joining young star Corbin Carrol in their outfield.

Arizona paid Jones a record signing bonus of $8M while he rated as a 70 fielder on the 20-80 scouting scale before playing a single inning of pro ball. Expectations are obviously quite high.
