White Sox Claim Brent Honeywell, Make 2 Other Roster Moves
Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox announced a trio of roster moves involving pitchers prior to Saturday's clash with the Cleveland Guardians. The club claimed Brent Honeywell off waivers from the San Diego Padres, placed Gregory Santos on the bereavement list, and recalled Lane Ramsey from Triple-A Charlotte.

Honeywell appeared in 36 games for the Padres this season. The right-hander posted a 4.05 ERA, 1.371 WHIP, and 42 strikeouts against 20 walks across 46.2 innings.

After a stretch of rough outings from mid-July into early August, Honeywell was designated for assignment by San Diego. The 28-year-old now joins a White Sox bullpen that saw plenty of turnover at the trade deadline.

With Santos on the bereavement list, the White Sox will be without their best reliever for 3-7 days. The 23-year-old has a 2.75 ERA and 52 strikeouts across 52.1 innings in his first season on the South Side.

Ramsey, a towering 6-foot-9 righty, gets his first call to the big leagues. A 23rd-round pick of the Sox in 2018, Ramsey owns a 6.00 ERA and 1.806 WHIP in 36 innings with Triple-A Charlotte this season. While his overall numbers are rough, he has some swing-and-miss potential with a 12 K/9.
