White Sox place All-Star Carlos Rodon on IL with left shoulder fatigue

The Chicago White Sox placed All-Star left-hander Carlos Rodon on the injured list with left shoulder fatigue, the team announced Wednesday morning.

Rodon was supposed to start Thursday's Field of Dreams game against the New York Yankees in Northeast Iowa. According to The Athletic's James Fegan, Lance Lynn will now start that game in his place.

Rodon is in his seventh season with the White Sox after being selected by the club in the first round of the 2014 draft. The 28-year-old has been one of Chicago's best pitchers this season, going 9-5 with a 2.38 ERA, 0.957 WHIP and 160 strikeouts in 109.2 innings.

The White Sox are one of the best teams in baseball this year with a 67-47 record, leading the American League Central by 10.5 games.

As for the Yankees, left-hander Andrew Heaney will start Thursday's Field of Dreams game. The Bronx Bombers are 3-0 against the White Sox this season, winning three consecutive games against Chicago in May.
