Yankees' catcher Jose Trevino is in favor of fans booing the team

New York Yankees fans are notoriously tough on opponents but may be more well-known for the venom they spew toward their own. Yankees' catcher Jose Trevino not only understands this, but he also supports it.

A guest on MLB Network's Hot Stove, Trevino said the Yankees expect to win championships, as do the fans, so they hold the team to a higher standard than most.

"That's just how it's going to be," Trevino said. "Some people like it, some people don't like it. I just so happen to love it.

"Every day wanting to win. Every single game. I'm okay with that. I'm okay with going out there every single day and having an expectation of winning. I'm totally fine with that."

Acquired in a trade with the Texas Rangers in April, Trevino earned his first All-Star nod wearing Yankees' pinstripes last summer. The 30-year-old posted career highs in games (115), hits (83), home runs (11), and RBI (43), slashing .248/.283/.388.

However, Trevino is more known for his defense behind the plate. Trevino was awarded his first Gold Glove in 2022, finishing first in the American League in caught stealing percentage (33.3).

Trevino also became the first American League catcher to win the Platinum Glove, awarded to the league's best overall defensive player. Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals is the only other catcher to win the award, winning it four times in the National League (2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015).
