Yankees' Miguel Castro placed on 15-day IL with shoulder strain

On Saturday, the New York Yankees placed right-hander Miguel Castro on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:

• Placed RHP Miguel Castro on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 7/13) with a right shoulder strain.
• Recalled OF Tim Locastro (#33) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Castro hasn't pitched since July 10. On Friday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Castro's shoulder was "barking a little bit," prompting the Yankees to send the 27-year-old reliever for an MRI.

On Saturday, Boone said the Yankees were shutting down Castro for four weeks.

Castro is 5-0 this season for the Yankees, with a 4.00 ERA over 27 innings.

The Yankees acquired Castro in an April trade with the New York Mets for left-hander Joely Rodriguez.

Castro is the second Yankees pitcher to hit the IL recently. The Yankees placed starter Luis Severino on the 15-day IL Thursday with a right lat strain. Boone announced on Saturday that Severino wouldn't throw for two weeks.

The Yankees recalled outfielder Tim Locastro from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill Castro's spot on the active roster.

In 15 games for the Yankees this season, Locastro batted .231/.333/.462 with a home run and two RBI. Locastro batted .256/.336/.414 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 37 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
