Belal Muhammad Offers Prediction for Potential Title Clash Against Leon Edwards
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Belal Muhammad envisions himself pitching a shutout against Leon Edwards in a potential title clash.

A title fight has evaded Muhammad so far despite him being unbeaten in his last 10 outings. Until recently, it seemed that Muhammad might not get a gold bid at all, as Dana White revealed that “Remember the Name” was not among three names offered to Edwards for a potential title defense at UFC 300.

However, Muhammad's wait for a shot at divisional gold might finally be over. Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, recently revealed that the Roufusport product is most likely getting his long-awaited title shot next. According to Lovell, a title fight between Edwards and Muhammad for the UFC upcoming Manchester card in July is all but done.

“The UFC is over here in July. So, no doubt Leon will be on that bill,” Lovell told talkSPORT. “Unfortunately, he couldn’t make the 300 bill for whatever reasons, the lads that was put to him, Shavkat [Rakhmonov], Khamzat [Chimaev], Islam [Makhachev], they was all fasting, we was ready to go. It is what it is. Because he wasn’t on the 300 bill, there is no doubt there is a big Muslim contingency [sic] in England in Manchester, so I think it will be Belal. iI’s not written in stone, but 99.9 [percent] I think it will be Belal.”

Meanwhile, Muhammad shared a bold prediction when asked how he expects a potential clash against “Rocky” to play out. “Remember the Name” expects to dominate the champ in every aspect before dethroning him via a 50-42 unanimous decision.

“I picture me coming out, piecing him up with boxing the first round. Then second round, I start kicking him and hurting him to the body. Then third round, I start clinching him and hurting him with elbows,” the 35-year-old wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Then in between rounds, my coach tells me to stop playing with my food, but I don’t listen. And then [fourth] round, I take him down and start getting him in submissions to the point of him tapping, but then I let them go until I hear his coach scream the magic words from the corner. Then at that point, I lick my lips and I’ll point to the ground like Max Hollowy, and Leon will look at me in fear. Then I’ll shoot takedown and win 50-42 on all three judges’ scorecards.”

Muhammad scored a dominant unanimous decision win over Gilbert Burns in his last outing in May 2023. Meanwhile, Edwards recently recorded a lopsided unanimous decision win over Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December 2023.
