Joe Gibbs Racing signs 14-year-old Max Reaves to development contract

“Reaves will begin a development program immediately that will include access to the resources available from Toyota, including training in the Toyota Performance Center (TPC) in Mooresville, NC,” JGR’s press release said. “In addition, Reaves will receive assistance with his 2024 schedule, access to learn from JGR’s current driver and crew chief lineup, public relations and social media training, and technical support with his upcoming race season.”

Reaves has experience running a variety of cars, including quarter midgets and pro late models, per Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. Known as “Mad Max,” Reaves’ racing career began at eight years old running quarter midgets in the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association. He has racked up over 300 wins and won an astonishing near 40 championships racing at the youth level.

“It has been great getting to know their entire family. Their love for the sport has impressed me. And it is clear that they are all in when it comes to supporting not only Max. But his younger brother Roo as well, who is already making a name for himself too.”

Reaves released a statement after JGR announced the news.

“I’m really excited. I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and I’m happy to have them helping me,” Reaves said. “Racing has become something our entire family loves. I enjoy every part of it and especially working with my younger brother, Roo. I’m just thankful for this opportunity.”
