3x NBA Champion The Los Angeles Lakers Must Consider Signing

Danny Green is coming off a season where he played for the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 11 regular season games, Green had averages of 5.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field and 43.2% from the three-point range.

This offseason, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers but was waived after two games, and still remains a free agent on January 13.

I believe the Los Angeles Lakers should sign Green.

Why?

The Lakers are the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 19-20 record in their first 39 games.

They have dealt with injuries and been inconsistent.

I believe Green would be an excellent addition to the locker room and be able to help improve the team's offense.

Currently, the Lakers rank 19th in scoring (114.1 PPG) and 23rd in three-point shooting (35.4%).

While Green is 36 years old, he has been one of the best role players in the NBA for over a decade.

His career averages are 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 42.1% from the field and 40.0% from the three-point range in 832 regular season games.

He has also appeared in an astonishing 169 playoff games and has won three NBA Championships.

During the 2020 season, Green helped the Lakers win the title, so he has significant experience playing alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

Adding Green would be no risk for the Lakers, as he could likely be signed for the veteran's minimum.
