A-Rod hints that retiring KG's jersey will follow takeover
Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Soon-to-be Timberwolves majority co-owner Alex Rodriguez has let fans know the next order of business after purchasing the team is retiring Kevin Garnett's jersey.

In a photo posted on his Instagram stories, Rodriguez shows a written 'To do' list with 'Buy the Wolves' crossed off. Right underneath the first point A-Rod had 'Retire KG's jersey' written.

Rodriguez and business partner Marc Lore are reportedly closing in on the final payment of their nearly three-year takeover of the Wolves from Glen Taylor.

Garnett spent 14 seasons in Minnesota and is the Timberwolves franchise leader in nearly every statistical category including games played, minutes played, points, rebounds, assists, and blocks. He was inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class.

The legendary Wolves big man famously fell out with Glen Taylor shortly after his second stint with the team ended.

He has kept the Wolves franchise at arm's length since the falling out, but has indicated he would be willing to play a role once Taylor was no longer the majority owner.

The Boston Celtics retired Garnett's jersey in 2022. Currently Malik Sealy's No. 2 jersey is the only jersey retired by the Timberwolves franchise.
