Bulls once again fall, this time to the Hawks

Shooting Forward DeMar DeRozan continued his impeccable form on the court for the Bulls as continue their mix in results and once again fall, this time to the Hawks. DeRozan continued his good performances providing 31 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists. However, his performance was in vain as the Chicago Bulls (36-40) lost against the Atlanta Hawks (35-40) 113-101 at home at the United Center. The Chicago Bulls came into this game after a great win in a competitive, tense game against the Minnesota Timberwolves finishing with a score of 109-101. While the Hawks came into this game distraught, after a crazy game where the Boston Celtics came out on top in a very tight game of 123-122.

The last time these teams faced each other was earlier in the season on Monday, Feberaury 12th, where the Bulls were victorious at home at United Center against the Hawks 136-126 where DeRozan was undoubtedley the main performer with 29 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists; however, DeRozan wasn’t the only impactful player as Shooting Guard Ayo Dosunmu also put in a good performance with 29 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists. The Chicago Bulls hoped for a similar result this time around, but it was the Hawks who came out on top and won the game.

First quarter was only positive, First half was difficult for the Bulls

The first half was one to forget for Billy Donovan’s team where they always trailed and never really found a foothold into the game. The first quarter proved to be the only limelight for the side, as they finished the quarter trailing by two as the quarter ended 32-30. DeRozan was the best man on the court that quarter for the Bulls with 9 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists while Shooting Forward Jalen Johnson was the main man for the Hawks putting 8 points on the board for the Atlanta side.

The second quarter then seemed to be a moment where Billy Donovan’s team gave up and understood that the Hawks controlled the game offensively and did what needed to be done to stop Bull’s plays in their work defensively, as the Bulls finished the second quarter trailing by six, 29-23 and at the half they were down by eight, 61-53. For the Bulls, it was Point Guard Coby White providing the difference as he put in 11 points, 1 rebounds, and 2 assists but for the Hawks it was Guard Vít Krejčí who finished with 15 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. 

Bulls weren’t much better in the second half, and once again fall

The third quarter proved to be not much different for the Bulls, as the quarter ended in the Hawks favor 29-21, leading the overall score 90-74. DeRozan once again led the way now with 19 points, 1 rebound, and 5 assists in the quarter, while for the Hawks it was once again Krejčí who put up 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The fourth quarter ended in the Bull’s favor providing a last gasp, as the quarter finished 23-27, but the final score was for the Hawks, winning it as the Bulls once again fell, 113-101. DeRozan was the only light for the Bulls as he finished the quarter with 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. While for the Hawks it was Shooting Guard Bogdan Bogdanović who finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Star of the Game

Shooting Forward DeMar DeRozan with his consistent performances, has once again been the “Star of the Game” as he racked up 31 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists. The USC Trojan product and 2009 NBA Draft, ninth overall pick was the best player on the court for the Chicago side, but his contributions weren’t able to provide the victory for the Bulls. DeRozan is hoping to once again put on a good performance that will give the desired result for the Bulls and for the Windy City.

The Bulls will want to bounce back and return to winning ways as they play the New York Knicks at home at the United Center on Friday, April 5th, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
