Chris Boucher’s MCL Tear Recovery Timeline Revealed
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors injury report is continuing to grow through the recent weeks.

Chris Boucher suffered a partial MCL tear in his right knee against the Portland Trail Blazers back on March 9.

A timeline was not provided at the time of his injury. Head coach Darko Rajakovic shared Boucher’s recovery period on March 16 after practice, via Toronto Raptors on YouTube:

“It’s going to take, I’m not sure, anywhere between six to eight weeks.”

This means that Boucher’s season is over and it has been an up and down one for him. Following all the trades, the 31-year-old fell out of Rajakovic’s rotation.

The injury happened at the end of regulation against Portland. He took a hard fall after tying the game with a tip-in, forcing overtime.

Prior to the deadline, it was not surprising that Boucher was being shopped around. However, nothing materialized and now he is left on a rebuilding Raptors team.

Following this season, he is going to be on a $10.8 million expiring contract, but Toronto is expected to resume trade talks for him. In 50 games this year, Boucher has averaged 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists on 50.7% field and 33% from three-point range.

Despite the trade talks, the 6’9″ forward cemented his legacy with the Raptors by being a part of the 2019 championship. He has experienced a lot of change the past few years, now being the lone player from that team.

The timelines do not matchup as Boucher progresses through his career, while Toronto navigates through a rebuild. But, there seems to be interest among playoff teams and he could be a solid stretch big man for around 15 to 20 minutes a night.

Regardless of what happens, the expectation is he will make a full recovery and avoid surgery, which is a great sign. Once healthy, he can take on a bigger opportunity elsewhere.

Boston Celtics were interested in Chris Boucher

A particular landing spot for Boucher was revealed in the midst of the trade deadline. The Boston Celtics were looking for center depth as they prepare for a deep postseason run, but ultimately pivoted.
