D'Angelo Russell Made NBA History In Wizards-Lakers Game

On Thursday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers  hosted the Washington Wizards in California. 

The game was close, but the Lakers were able to win by a score of 134-131 (in overtime). 

Anthony Davis led the way with 40 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, one steal and three blocks while shooting 14/22 from the field in 41 minutes of playing time.

D'Angelo Russell finished his night with 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block while shooting 9/21 from the field and 4/11 from the three-point range in 44 minutes of playing time. 

The 2019 NBA All-Star also made history by moving ahead of Antoine Walker (1,386) for sole possession of 57th on the all-time three-pointers list

Following Walker, the next player for Russell to pass will be Brent Barry (1,395). 

With the victory, the Lakers improved to 33-28 in 61 games, which has them as the ninth seed in the Western Conference (one of the final two play-in tournament spots). 

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and are 21-9 in the 30 games they have hosted in Los Angeles. 

Following the Wizards, the Lakers will remain at home to host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday evening. 

As for the Wizards, they dropped to 9-50 in 59 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference.  

They are in the middle of a 13-game losing streak. 

Following the Lakers, the Wizards will remain in Los Angeles to face off against the Clippers on Friday.
