Danny Green discusses the behind-the-scenes impact of being waived

Danny Green was recently waived by the Philadelphia 76ers. Philadelphia needed to cut a player following the trade of James Harden, and Green was deemed surplus to requirements. Now, the three-time NBA champion is an unrestricted free agent and will be looking for his next stop.

During a recent episode of "Inside The Green Room," the veteran wing revealed how he was almost unpacked after moving to Philadelphia during free agency.

"A trade that was made; they got more players than they'd sent out, and unfortunately, they had to waive somebody, and my contract was the one that needed to be waived," Green said. "Even more, unfortunately, I was 90% done unpacking my stuff...Just got the family here about a week ago, the wife, the family, the dog. We had just got settled...and now, we gotta figure it out."

Green has been in the NBA for 14 years. He understands the business nature of the league. Being waived so soon after signing a contract is a tough break. The personal issues that arise are often an afterthought for fans. However, Green has attempted to peel back the curtain. He's being honest about how the Sixers' decision affected him and his family.

When Green does sign with a new team, he and his family will need to move again. It's part of life in the NBA. As a former champion with a career shooting average of 40% from three-point range, there will undoubtedly be an interested team at some point in the season. Green has proven his value as both an on-court contributor and locker-room leader.

Nevertheless, at 36 years old, every contract Green signs comes with the risk of being waived. He's not the core rotation member he once was.
