The Boston Celtics are currently the first seed in the Eastern Conference, and best team in the NBA with a 27-12 record in 39 games. 

On Thursday, the team officially announced that they have traded 2014 ninth-overall pick Noah Vonleh to the  San Antonio Spurs

Via The Celtics Press Release: "The Boston Celtics today announced that they have acquired a future conditional second-round pick from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for center/forward Noah Vonleh and cash considerations."

Vonleh played in 23 games for the Celtics, and averaged 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest (on 45.8% shooting from the field). 

The Spurs also announced the deal in a press release (photo shared via Tom Petrini of KENS 5). 

Via the press release: The San Antonio Spurs today announced that the team has waived center Gorgui Dieng to complete a trade with the Boston Celtics, acquiring forward Noah Vonleh and cash considerations in exchange for a protected future second round draft pick. Simultaneously, Vonleh has been waived by San Antonio."

Therefore, Vonleh will not actually play for the Spurs, and will be a free agent if he clears waivers without being claimed. 

The former Indiana Hoosier has also played for seven other NBA teams (in addition to the Celtics) over the last seven seasons. 

His career averages are 4.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest on 45.9% shooting from the field. 

As for Dieng, was the 21st overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and is averaging 4.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest in 13 games. 

In addition to the Spurs, he has also played for three other NBA teams over the last nine seasons, and has career averages of 7.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest on 49.9% shooting from the field.
