Ish Wainright Pens Goodbye Message to Suns, Fans
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

PHOENIX -- The 2023-24 Phoenix Suns regular season is underway, and for the first time in a couple years, Ish Wainright isn't part of the organization.

Wainright was recently waived as the Suns needed to trim two roster spots ahead of their new campaign, and Wainright was released alongside Keon Johnson to ensure Phoenix was compliant ahead of the regular season.

Wainright etched himself as a fan-favorite during his stay here, and he penned a heartfelt letter to the organization and fans on his Instagram page:

Ish Wainright Says Goodbye to Phoenix Suns

"Phoenix, You've been such a huge part of my life these past few years. The Valley of the Sun has adopted me as a brother. For that, I'm truly grateful.

"Thank you to the Suns organization, staff, players and management for an incredible opportunity to pursue my dream. Thank you to all the people that I've met in this wonderful city and allowed me to be a part of such an amazing community.

"Last but not least, the fans. For every handshake, fist bump, high five, signing or picture, thank you. I'm so glad I've been able to inspire and give back to you all. I will never forget my time here.

"As I embark on my next chapter, this isn't a goodbye, this is a see you soon.

"Much love,

"Ishmail 'Ish' Wainright."

Wainright soon signed with the Portland Trail Blazers , who house fellow former Suns Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara.

Portland visits Phoenix on Nov. 21 before coming back to town on Jan. 1.
