Jazz Bounced From Summer League Semi-Finals by Rockets, 115-101
USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Jazz stumbled in the Semi-Finals of the Las Vegas Summer League and were out-dueled by the Houston Rockets, 115-101. This contest featured a mix of drafted hopefuls, G-League players, former high-potential candidates, and current NBA contracted players.

The Jazz and Rockets welcomed the new NBA up-tempo game pace with an emphasis on three-point shooting. Each team experienced highs and lows blended with successful runs, as well as mishaps, but the Jazz were unable to thwart their off-night from three-point range, which ultimately decided their fate against the Rockets.

All of the Jazz starters registered double-digit performances, led by Keshawn Justice, Micah Potter, and Colbey Ross, who each scored 20 points. Taevion Kinsey tossed in 14 points, and Nick Ongenda scored 12 points.

Potter and Agenda tallied double-doubles by pulling down 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively. The entire team displayed a tough competitive spirit, however, the issue was the Jazz making only 12-of-45 three-point shots. 26.7% will most likely not translate to winning, no matter the level of competition.

Rockets fans were delighted with the talents of Cam Whitmore, who was the No. 20 pick in this year's draft and scored 25 points. Whitmore was assisted by Houston's leading scorer Nate Hinton, who dropped 27 points, while Fletcher Magee came in off the Rockets' bench to chip in 21 points.

Houston made 19-of-49 three-point shots which is a 39% clip. The Rockets will next face the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Las Vegas Summer League Championship.

The future is quite bright for both of these organizations, and the offseason adjustments will most certainly lead to additional victories in the near future. Look for our Jazz Summer League takeaways to be published over the next several days.
