Kings G League Player Admits Involvement in Horrific Murder-Kidnapping

Former Sacramento Kings G League (Stockton Kings) player Chance Comanche was arrested on December 15 for charges that turned out to be conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping. Since then, Comanche has confessed gruesome details about the case and the murder of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers.

According to reports from the Sacramento Bee and KLAS 8 News Now, Comanche, 27, and his former girlfriend, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden conspired in the days leading up to the event to murder Rodgers. Comanche was with the Kings in Las Vegas on December 5 to play against the G League Ignite and communicated with Harnden on the messaging app "Telegram" about plan details.

Rodgers, a reported sex worker in the Las Vegas area, supposedly had issues with Harnden, causing Harnden and Comanche to devise a plan to kill her. Leading up to December 5, the two had other parties involved in the plan, gave details about Rodgers to said parties and looked for a ghost gun - an untraceable gun built by the individual - to use. Comanche also messaged the chat, encouraging them to get Rodgers drunk and drug her drink. Comanche also told police he offered a friend $3,000 to commit the murder, but the friend was uninterested.

On the night of the murder, Comanche messaged Rodgers after his game, posing as an individual interested in sexual acts, and offered to pay $1,000. Rodgers reportedly agreed to the arrangement. A friend of Rodgers dropped her off for the night but was concerned when she did not check in after the date like usual.

Comanche described the murder to police, stating the three were parked in a cul-de-sac near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Gibson Road in Henderson, Nevada. Comanche strangled Rodgers with an HDMI cord while Harnden tried choking her with her hands. The two then dumped her body in a ditch on the side of the road, covering it with rocks. Police say they were able to find the body after Comanche pointed out the spot on a map.

Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas on December 13. Comanche was arrested by the FBI in Sacramento County and released by the Kings on December 15. He is expected to appear in court at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, before being extradited to Las Vegas.
